WORKSHOPS AND TEACHING
The art of mosaic is incredibly community building. It is also a great equalizer of skills.
One can make a mosaic look very intricate and skillful, but it a less
skilled individual can create a piece of art that they will be proud of for the rest of their life.
I specialize in facilitating workshops that teach the basics of mosaic
and then move on to create a larger, collaborative and permanent piece,
usually in a public space on a campus or elsewhere in the community.
The participants learn
how to work together from the design phase
all the way through the final grouting.
My students have created some beautiful pieces of art.

Fall 2007 Workshop
In preparation for a large future mosaic on campus,
the kids each made
their own smaller mosaic to learn the techniques.
This group excelled in miniscule tile pieces and in glass cutting and grinding.

The Sweet Piece 2006
This mosaic was made by and for students at Coronado
High School in the spring of 2006 under my supervision.
They did a fantastic job from designing to grouting.

Spring 2002 Girls World Workshop
The Concert in the Park mosaic was only one of the
educational programs I was involved in during this time.
